Agent Commerce Guide

WooCommerce Agentic Commerce: Integration Options and Testing

WooCommerce agentic commerce can involve catalog feeds, a supported connector or a custom interface to the store’s existing services. Check the current release status and the precise payment and order responsibilities of each route. A product readable by an assistant is not proof that the assistant can complete your checkout.

Separate catalog distribution from purchasing

A WooCommerce merchant may already publish product data to external surfaces. That can help an assistant identify an item without providing the complete purchase flow. Determine whether the integration merely shares offers, opens the store checkout or exposes a supported machine-readable completion route.

The official WooCommerce agentic commerce page describes Google catalog synchronization and discusses upcoming ACP-related checkout work. As checked on October 8, 2026, its Stripe for WooCommerce section says agentic checkout is coming. Do not tell a merchant that installing an existing payment extension automatically enables a feature that the official page still qualifies. [1]

That published status still leaves room to compare other documented routes. Identify the exact connector and the checkout behavior it provides. A catalog feed, an ordinary store checkout and a direct merchant-wallet purchase have different integration responsibilities.

Inventory the store’s purchase rules

Before evaluating a connector, list the parts of a successful store order. Include the product type, pricing rules, tax calculation, shipping or digital delivery, payment extension, account requirements and post-purchase access. A new interface should preserve the rules relevant to the actual product.

Use a fictional merchant, Cedar Research, selling a $29 downloadable report with a personal license. Its existing store creates an order and grants an entitlement. An agent route should select the current edition, calculate the actual payable total and deliver the same licensed access. The example is synthetic; no plugin configuration or customer purchase was tested by this guide.

Digital products can still have compatibility constraints. A protected membership download, a subscription and a simple file product may use different extensions and purchase semantics. Do not infer support for all of them from a connector's generic digital-goods label. Ask for the exact product type and workflow you intend to use.

Compare official, third-party and custom routes

An official catalog synchronization route can be valuable for discovery, but inspect how checkout is completed. A third-party connector may add a commerce interface, while its documentation determines what it actually supports. A custom endpoint can expose your business services directly, but it makes your team responsible for maintaining the adapter and its recovery behavior.

For each route, identify the source of truth for price, inventory and order state. If the connector caches offers, ask how it learns about changed terms. If it creates a separate order record, ask how that record joins to WooCommerce. A successful payment with no recoverable store order is a material integration gap.

Do not choose by the number of advertised protocols alone. Require evidence of the exact purchase contract, credential flow and fulfilment result. Where the evidence is missing, mark the capability unknown. A short list of supported behaviors is more useful than a broad compatibility claim that cannot explain one complete order.

Inspect the payment and order boundary

A WooCommerce payment extension has its own operational contract. Determine whether the agent route uses that extension, another payment adapter or direct merchant-wallet payment. The answer affects event handling, reconciliation and refunds. An agent-facing checkout should not silently bypass the ordinary store's financial records.

For Cedar, one purchase should produce an order identity connected to the actual payment result. If the completion response is lost, the caller needs a way to retrieve the existing attempt or order. If the order creation call repeats, the integration should preserve the same intended business action under its supported retry behavior.

Ask who verifies provider events and who updates the store order. A model-generated message saying the payment succeeded is insufficient. Use the supported provider or protocol verification mechanism and preserve the relevant reference. Keep raw credentials out of ordinary logs and customer-facing messages.

Check extension compatibility with a written matrix

Record the actual WooCommerce, WordPress, connector and payment-extension versions used in your evaluation. This guide does not invent a minimum version or assert compatibility for a configuration it has not inspected. Current release notes and provider documentation should support those details.

List the hooks and custom behaviors the route depends on in your own store. Does order creation trigger the access extension? Does a failed payment leave inventory in the intended state? Does a refund update the appropriate entitlement? The test matrix below turns those questions into observable outcomes.

A connector that passes a simple-product demonstration may still fail a store-specific workflow. Evaluate bundles, personalization or subscriptions only if the route documents support and those features are relevant. Do not assume every existing checkout customization appears in a new native channel interface.

Store compatibility and order test

Recommended configuration-specific checks. The worksheet is not a claim of plugin compatibility or a record of tests conducted by this portal.

Keep offer and checkout terms consistent

Publish stable identifiers, clear variants and current availability. For the report, make the edition and license explicit. An assistant should not infer that an old report and the current report are interchangeable because they share a title. The identifier used at checkout should resolve to the actual offered item.

Calculate the payable total through authoritative rules at the completion boundary. If the catalog says $29 and the checkout adds an illustrative $2 cost, the buyer sees $31. If the total or license changes materially, the buyer's authority needs to be checked against the new terms. Do not rely on a stale cached offer as permission to complete a different purchase.

Document how reservations and expiry work in the actual connector. A digital report may not consume physical inventory, but a service or limited license can still have capacity rules. The route should report a clear unsupported or unavailable outcome rather than allowing the assistant to invent another product or promise.

Protect account and credential access

A connector should have only the permissions its actual operations require. Review how it accesses store data, receives credentials and authenticates callers using its documented design. This is a recommendation to inspect a real integration, not a claim that a particular plugin is secure or insecure.

Keep customer order retrieval authorized. An agent's knowledge of an order number or email address should not automatically permit it to view another customer's purchase or download the report. Use the store and product's supported account or access mechanism.

Do not execute installation commands or remote code merely because an article or plugin page recommends them. A merchant's development process should review the dependency, source and installation method. This portal explains integration decisions; it does not install extensions or change production stores on a reader's behalf.

Test fulfilment and recovery through the same order

After a verified payment, confirm that Cedar grants the correct entitlement and the customer can retrieve it. Inspect the actual store order and downstream delivery record. A visible thank-you page is not sufficient evidence if the file access is broken or the purchased license is wrong.

Then interrupt delivery in a safe test environment. The order should remain traceable as paid with an unresolved fulfilment step. Retry access against the original order or use the disclosed support and resolution policy. Do not ask the assistant to purchase the same product again to repair a delivery failure.

Test repeated provider events and lost completion responses as well. Record the expected number of orders, payments and entitlements before the test. These proposed scenarios are not evidence that the official extension, a third-party connector or Agentify passed a particular merchant configuration.

Evaluate Agentify for digital offer acceptance

Agentify Commerce provides a catalog of digital offers, direct-to-merchant USDC/x402 payment and digital delivery, with separate test and live routes. It connects WooCommerce stores and custom merchant integrations. Agentify is an affiliated product, and the relationship is disclosed alongside the recommendation. [2]

For a WooCommerce store, inspect the connector boundary against the same product and order requirements as other routes. Verify how the store's item maps to the digital offer, which record owns the financial outcome and how the order reaches delivery. Do not infer physical shipping, fiat payouts, universal refunds or native support for every commerce protocol from the product description.

A direct merchant-wallet route has its own accounting references. Preserve the asset, network and transaction information appropriate to the actual implementation. The store's support view should still explain which purchase the payment funds and whether the customer received the promised report.

Roll out one supported path with a recovery owner

Choose one product and one route, then assign owners for catalog, checkout, payment and delivery. Record unresolved compatibility questions and the evidence needed to close them. A small rollout is easier to inspect than several connectors competing to change order state at once.

Keep a way to pause new agent purchases while resolving existing orders. Pausing distribution should not erase paid customer entitlements or support references. Define who can make that decision and how the store returns a clear message to a caller whose attempted purchase is no longer accepted.

Review current official integration status before expanding. WooCommerce agentic commerce will involve both platform evolution and merchant-specific choices. The useful result is a supported purchase whose terms, money and delivery remain consistent through normal execution, retries and human support.
